Our Art Work

We have been very busy making lovely art in our class. We drew a picture of our first day at school, printed our hand-print and made self-portraits! We are very pleased with our work.

Welcome Junior Infants!

We have had a very exciting start to our year in Junior Infants. There are twenty-seven children in our class, fifteen boys and twelve girls. Our teacher, Múinteoir Amanda, is very proud of how hard we have been working.
We 'Show 5' when she asks. To do this we use our looking eyes, listening ears, quiet hands, quiet feet and lips together.
We have fun playing together, taking turns and sharing with each other.
Cee-Cee the rabbit came to visit for a week. We were very gentle with her and she hopped around as we worked!

Aistear- Learning through Play

We love Aistear in our class. Aistear means learning through play. We have six stations and each table takes their turn at the different stations. This month we have the Cafe, the blocks, junk art, the sand, the creative table and small world. We love using our imagination to make inventions and create our own games. We are super at working together as a team!

Intercultural Festival!

March

During the month of March we celebrated out Intercultural Festival!
Each class was given a country to complete a project on. The country we learned about was India.
We learned lots of interesting facts about the food, clothes and festivals in India.
One of our pupil's parents came in to teach us all about India. She wore a beautiful Saris, a traditional Indian dress. She taught us lots of interesting facts and a lovely song, 'Vande Mataram'.
We also learned a nursery rhyme in Hindi called 'Dhobi Aaya' .

On the Thursday we had a food festival. Thank you so much to all of you for bringing so much beautiful food and treats into class. The children were very good at trying new foods and really enjoyed the day.
The festival was a great success.

Full Attendance!

During the month of February children were awarded with Full attendance certificates.
The certificates were awarded to the children who had full attendance from September to December. The children received bronze awards and a prize!
Certificates will be awarded again for the term January to Easter and again during the final term, Easter- Summer!
Well done to the children that received an award!
